Help yourself
-
Hints for a successful event:
People
-
If you don't have guests you don't have an event!
If you have all your friends around but there is no decent food you'll
still have more fun than with great food and only a handful of guests or people you don't really like.
Planning
- Make sure the event you want to hold will work in your venue.
Be clear about what you want to get out of the event, and what you want your guests to experience.
If you are catering yourself, plan menus so you can do most of it beforehand,
and enlist special friends to help at critical times (or get us to do it all for you!)
Presentation
- Ordinary sparkling wine at the correct temperature in a champagne flute
tastes better than warm vintage champagne in a plastic tooth mug - presentation is vital.
If you can, serve food on good crockery and have proper cutlery and glasses.
Select a serving dish that complements the food and arrange it carefully.
A good garnish makes all the difference, see cookingvillage for some good tips.
